Losing One’s Salvation/Falling from Grace/Apostasy/Perseverance
Verse Observations: Mt 10:22, Rom 11:22-23, Gal 5:2-4, II Cor 1:21-22 & ESV note, II Cor 5:4-5, 6:1,13:5, Heb 10:22, II Pt 3:17, I Jn 2:24
*saved forever - Rom 8:38-39, 14:4, II Cor 1:22, 5:5, Eph 1:13-14, I Tm 4:16
Is it possible to lose one’s salvation?
Isn’t II Timothy 2:12-13 contradictory? (if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; 13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself.)
Why did Jesus say “if possible, even the elect”? Can the elect be led astray? If the elect cannot be led astray, why would Satan waste precious time and effort trying to delude them? (Mt 24:24)
This makes it sound like God decides to keep you faithful based on your past faith, as a reward or like he owes it to you ("God is not unjust so as to ..."). (Heb 6:10)
Why was God unwilling to forgive Eli and his family? I thought a person could repent until the moment he dies. (I Sm 3:14)
