The Sinlessness and Perfection of God — Accusations against God
"Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written, "That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged." (Rom 3:4)
'And Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the LORD is God,
follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.”' (I Kgs 18:21)
"Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their
own sight!" (Is 5:21)
Now before we begin, let me just preface this whole section by saying it is a great irony that the criteria by which I judge the Christian God and Christianity comes from the Christianity that I have learned! That is, if I were not a Christian or did not come from a Christianized culture, I would not have the following problems with the bible that I do. Remembering this, Christianity cannot be all that bad (if bad at all). However, that does not mean that this makes it true. (I’m not sure if anybody would care about this except the Christians [and perhaps also the atheists, though for completely different reasons than the Christians, if you get my drift].) So then, the worse we can say is that Christianity in itself is not bad (indeed, Jesus is credited as teaching the highest morals, and his followers, the Christians, are held up to the highest moral standards [therefore, they are viciously condemned for any failings {I am not complaining; in fact, I wear this as a badge of pride and robustly encourage this, since it means that in the world’s eyes, we still hold the place of highest honor, and that despite all our numerous and even horrendous failings, the world has not lost faith in us, by no means, and has even placed its faith in us}], but it could mean that Judaism (notice that almost all the problems come from the OT), from which Christianity sprang, is bad (and false), therefore, nullifying also the truth of Christianity.
That the world is evil may lead one to believe that God is evil, but look how beautiful everything has been created and it's evident that God is good. It's really sad what a place we've made it.
How was it right for God to cause Samson to murder? (Jdgs 14:19)
How could it be right for the returned exiles from Persia to Jerusalem who had already married foreign women to divorce them? Worst of all, the children would suffer through no fault of their own? (Ezr 10:3)
Why did God tell Moses to lie to Pharaoh by saying the Israelites would only be in the desert for a while? He intended for them to run away. (Ex 3:10, 18)
Why was Saul prophesying naked? (I Sm 19:24)
Why did Jesus not let the disciple bury his father? (Mt 8:21-22)
II Chr 25:5-16 If Amaziah did as God told him, and God had promised to bless him if he did, why did God curse him, and as a result of following the Lord's instructions?!
