The Sabbath
Why would God need to rest on the Sabbath and be refreshed? Isn’t God not supposed to get tired? (This is a question about the nature of rest.) (Ex 31:17)
Well, I don't think that God rested because he was tired, but because we all need variety. There's the work mode, and the leisure mode, and being in either kind of mode all the time means being unbalanced.
How come God put so much emphasis on the Sabbath? (Jer 17:21-27, Ex 16:27-29) It’s also one of the first parts of the Law given. One might say it was even before the Law. It was mentioned even before the 10 commandments. (Ex 23:12)
Why do we have to remember and repeat the days of creation through a weekly pattern of work and rest? I don't see what the big deal is. I can remember that God created everything without this. (Ex 20:11)
Why did God decide to let the land of Judah lie desolate according to the number of Sabbaths that the land had missed? Why this criterion? (II Chr 36:20-21)
