Men
Why is it that men hate women? That men, even boys, naturally see the female sex as inferior? I don’t see where they get this kind of thinking. There has never been discovered an unambiguously matriarchal society (though this may be due to the nature of female leadership, see below). Now when something appears in all societies, it can only be concluded that this is the natural way of things, and not due to culture. It means that it’s rooted in the human being. Something within the human being causes this to be so. Now what is it? When women rule, there is equality. When men rule, there is no equality, except among men. Also, when women speak of people in general, they always remember that there are two sexes. Men, when they speak about people in general, only talk about men. This is all especially strange considering that they hate the ones that give them life, raise them, and support them and go through life with them. From living life, I have found that almost all men are misogynistic to some degree. I can only think of one man, perhaps another that I read about, whom I would consider truly non-misogynistic.
Why does everyone want to dispense with women? (elaboration needed) (see "Unnatural Selection" by Mara Hvistendahl) You’d think that women would be the more valued sex because they’re reproductive, but this isn’t so.
Why are men morally inferior? Why would God make it like this? It’s really weird. In fact, you even see this in the animal kingdom. (Good example of the lions.)
Why are men allowed to be morally inferior? In Half the Sky (pp 192-4), they talk about studies that show that men in impoverished countries spend an average of 20% of household income on leisure and immorality. About 2% is spent on their children’s education. Give the money to women, however, and they will spend the money on priorities and life necessities. I suppose this is for 2 reasons – 1)women care more about their children than men (a mother’s love, holding that baby in your womb for 9 mos) and 2)because men have always been the ones to partake in idle, immoral activities (drinking, smoking, gambling, prostitutes, TV). These are generally masculine vices. So why is this allowed? Why are men like this? Further evidence comes from the disaster in Haiti, in which aid workers would distribute rice to families. They soon found that if they gave the rice to men, they would not bring it back to their families like they were supposed to, but sell it instead. So they started a policy that they would only distribute to women.
Why is sex more important to men than it is to women? Or rather, why do they need it? (Women like it, but they don’t need it, and even that’s stretching it, because a lot of women don’t like it, or don’t care about it at all.) Am I missing something here? I always thought it was strange that people will say things like, “Men have needs”, or “What are the young men going to do until they get married?” (which is why poor rural girls should be kidnapped and sent to brothels as sex slaves [in SE Asia, India and Pakistan]). I once read a statistic that 25% of men think life’s not worth living without sex. Shocking. I always thought anyone could live without sex. It’s not like food, after all. Now I’m beginning to wonder if men don’t see it that way, like it really is food to them or something. I’m not legitimizing this kind of thinking, but I do think there’s something to it, that it means something, I just don’t know what. That’s what I’m trying to figure out. I mean, if it were just a physical need, why can’t they just masturbate? Why do they need a real vagina? (I take this to be so from the fact that they would rather hurt a real live human being by hiring a prostitute, even if she's just a little girl, or marrying a child bride, than take care of themselves with their hand.) What difference does it make? I’ve read a lot on marriage to try to figure this out, but no one explains why. I have yet to find anybody, man or woman, who has ever been able to articulate this.
Why do men want to be nurtured?
“Boys need to be challenged by appeals to ego or competitive motivations to bring their achievement up to the level of girls.” (No Contest by Alfie Kohn, p 172, quoted from Maccoby & Jacklin, Psychology of Sex Differences, p 351. Maccoby, Eleanor Emmons, and Carol Nagy Jacklin. The Psychology of Sex Differences. Stanford, Calif.: Stanford University Press, 1974)
Why are men so conceited? They glory in their sons, but women don’t glory in their children. Men are so enthusiastic about self-replication, creating a “mini-me”. Why?
Why are women’s looks so important to men? What about when she gets old (and we all get old)?
"The Other": How can this attraction and degradation of the exotic be reconciled? (A great example of this, come to think of it, is porn.) To me, they are mutually exclusive. (For example, women, as the “other”, the second sex. Also often applies to foreign cultures or minorities.)
Closely related: Why would any man worship a woman (goddesses) if all societies are patriarchal?
Since men are visually stimulated, what does a blind man (especially a man born blind) do? Is a blind man as sexual? Would he still have “needs”?
Why aren't men allowed to talk with each other? I mean, just hang out and talk.
A man may be a woman's ruler, but she is his judge. But if this is so, why do so many men despise women, yet look to them for approval? It seems that the more a man despises women, the more he seeks their approval (womanizers).
The thing that would make a woman happiest is the love of a man, but what's the thing that would make a man happiest?
